BAGO DIVISION – After news came out that the terrorist junta chief Min Aung Hlaing will be visiting the city of Bago on Monday (May 22), junta forces have tightened security in the city and ordered roadside stalls to shut as well as conducted cleaning works, reported the residents.
Since May 21, the junta troops reportedly cleaned the roads, ordered temporary closure of roadside stalls and cleaned up trashes in the city in a manner similar to what was done in preparation for the visit of military dictators in the past.
In addition, it is said that all patients at Bago General Hospital except for emergency patients were chased off the hospital as the war criminal regime leader was also rumoured to be visiting the hospital.
Locals said that in Bago City, junta forces and subordinates have been busy watering and cleaning the road from junta Division 77 until Bago College, repainting the pavements and replacing the barriers in front of the Clock Tower.
On Monday morning, groups of two junta soldiers, two policemen and a vehicle police were posted on most streets in the city while groups of seven to ten junta forces were posted in the main roads.
“We heard Min Aung Hlaing is visiting. Security has been tightened since two days ago and today (Monday) has the highest number of security forces. There are also inspections and arrests of motorcycles. There were also preparations done at Bago Hall and junta higher-ups from various departments are there. There are a lot of them (junta forces) everywhere (in the city),” said a local on Monday.
It is said that even Taungoo Street, the road leading to Bago Division Regional Office, that has been closed since the military coup, was reopened on that day.
