SOUTHERN SHAN STATE – The accountable person of Pekhon People’s Defence Force Battalion 1006, Mr. Peter mentioned that the battles have been calm for about two weeks as the fascist junta council columns stationed in Pekhon Township, on the Shan-Karenni border were unable to carry out offensive attacks.
It was known that the fascist junta council troops have been stationed near South Salong Village, North Salong Village and the villages on Mobye-Loikaw road. But they are unable to conduct offensive attacks like before.
The accountable person explained, “They are unable to conduct offensive attacks. We don’t initiate the battle until they advance, as we are performing the defensive attack. So, the battles are calm now.”
Mr. Peter continued that the reason why the battles are calm is because the members of PDF don’t conduct the attacks, as the harvesting time is around the corner for the crops which some civilians planted.
“We also have to listen the voices of the people. If battles broke out now, the civilians will get hurt. So, at the moment, we don’t launch offensive attacks,” said Mr. Peter.
He added that the duration of calm between the battles are intended to prepare for the needed weapons, ammunition and rations as well as to give time to work for the civilians who have been struggling amid the battles for around half a year.
Even though the battles are calm on Shan-Karenni border in Pekhon, Pinlaung and Mobye regions, the military tension is still high with both sides on stand by.
