KARENNI STATE – Myo Min Aung, a junta police sergeant, was detained for robbing a construction spare shop in Pekhon on September 28.
He was affiliated with the Pekhon Myoma Police Station and robbed the “Myat Saytanar” construction spare shop near the police station at around 3:30 pm. He was apprehended upon returning to the police station.
“He frequently shopped at this store, and the owner knew him well. However, he might not have recognized him as a junta police officer. The officer brandished a weapon concealed beneath his longyi while the owner was counting money. He did not wear a mask, and the owner can provide a description of him,” said a resident.
The police officer stole approximately 1 million kyats, and the owner filed charges at the police station. At that moment, Myo Min Aung also arrived at the police station and was detained with the stolen money.
The owner has recovered his money, and the police station is conducting an investigation into the police sergeant, according to a source close to the shop owner.
The junta’s propaganda channel claimed that PDF comrades were responsible for the theft, but Pekhon PDF Battalion – 1006 is also investigating the incident. In recent days, items belonging to civilians have frequently been looted or stolen in Pekhon.
