KARENNI STATE – Clashes occurred near Markhraw Village, Hpruso Township, on September 11, resulting in the deaths of numerous junta troops, including the battalion commander. PDF comrades confiscated around 20 weapons and ammunition, said Major Bhone Naing, an official of Karenni Military Information.
One junta column left from Demoso Township and attempted to launch an offensive in Hpruso Township. This is why Karenni comrades intercepted them on September 11.
“We confiscated various types of ammunition, possibly over 20. The junta side sustained many casualties, and the junta battalion commander was also killed,” he said.
During that battle, the junta side suffered heavy casualties and retreated. Subsequently, comrades carried out clearance operations, and the battle ceased.
Since the end of 2021, clashes have intensified in Karenni, and comrades now control over 60 percent of Karenni State, according to President Khun B Htoo, Karenni State Interim Executive Council – IEC.
The junta council controls 20 percent, and the rest remains outside the control of both sides.
