KACHIN STATE – People’s Defence Forces (PDF) captured a main military camp on the border of Banmauk and Pinlebu, stationed by junta council troops and subordinate Shan Ni Army (SNA) militia.
The camp located in Pinhinkha Village of Banmauk Township was said to be attacked and captured by Banmauk Township PDF and local defence forces in the first week of December.
“We didn’t even have to fight that hard. They (junta forces) ran away. We found baskets and Shwephioo tea packets. They ran away without even defending,” said a member of Banmauk PDF.
Pinhinkha Village is located on the main route connected to both Pinlebu and Homalin and the camp has been stationed by junta and SNA forces for around six months. “Capturing this camp is akin to capturing a strategically important camp,” explained a PDF soldier.
Last month, the junta column from infantry 8 under Division 44 conducting offensives in Banmauk Township was attacked by Banmauk PDF under Katha District Battalion 4 and local defence forces. At least eight junta forces were killed and the remaining troops ran away in disarray during that attack, announced the defence forces.
