MON STATE – Junta forces that came to set up hidden sentries at Daukyat Village in Bilin Township were caught in a landmine blast and the alliance of revolutionary forces estimated that there could be at least five casualties.
Nearly forty junta troops coming down to the village to take up hidden sentry posts as security for a junta convoy were caught in the landmine blast near Daukyat Village at 12 noon on September 5.
The landmine was reportedly planted by KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) Coalition Force and the junta forces reportedly retreated while opening fire wildly after setting off the blast.
At least five junta troops were said to be injured in the blast and sent to Bilin Hospital.
Moreover, junta artillery battalion based in Ziwun of Bilin Township and other junta outposts fired heavy weapons nonstop till the evening towards Daukyat and Khaemauk Villages after the landmine blast.
Because junta convoys are frequently attacked on the Yangon-Mawlamyaing Highway near Daukyat Village, junta forces have been setting up hidden sentries along the road whenever a convoy is passing for the security of their convoys.
The recent September 4 clash between junta forces and the KNLA coalition force saw three members of the coalition fall in battle as well as casualties on the junta side, stated the officials of the revolutionary forces.
