KAREN STATE – KNU (Karen National Union) officials confirmed that Paya Thonsu city in Kyainseikgyi Township is now under the control of KNU Brigade 6.
After taking control of the town at the Thai-Myanmar border, which was previously controlled by the junta military council troops, KNU is reported to have started the administrative mechanism since June and July.
Regarding initiating the KNU’s administrative mechanism, New Mon State Party (NMSP), Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), KNU/KNLA-PC and Border Guard Force (BGF) based in Paya Thonsu have no objections and are working together in unison.
Previously on January 24, revolutionary joint forces attacked and cleared out the four office buildings of the junta council in Paya Thonsu.
In addition, revolutionary forces also captured the junta council’s Lakhat Mountain camp near Myawaddy Town, and on September 14, KNLA – battalion 18 and the revolutionary joint forces were able to attack and seize control of Yaytashout military outpost in Kawkareik Township, and captured a lot of weapons and ammunition.
The terrorist military council is conducting daily airstrikes as well as heavy artillery attacks on the KNU Brigade 6 area, and as a result, thousands of local residents are still fleeing.
