SAGAING DIVISION – Monywa District Battalion 22 Commander Nat Soe said that three junta policemen were hit by bullets when they attacked two police cars that came to collect scot money from factories in Monywa City’s industrial zone.
On December 28 the 22nd Battalion of Monywa District released a report that “two police cars collecting scot money were fired upon at the workshops near Monywa City Industry Zone (2), Zizawa Street on December 24 around 11:11 a.m.”
As a result of the shooting, three policemen were hit by bullets and fell down, and it is not yet confirmed whether they died or not, Monywa District 22nd Battalion Commander Nat Soe said.
“There were 12 of them in two cars. Some of them were inside (the factories) asking for money. After some of them got out of the car, we shot at those who were left behind and those who remained in the car for about 30 seconds. They were not far from the car. They returned fire. Our soldiers are safe. The fact that they fell is visible to the people and our comrades,” said Nat Soe.
However, the death toll of the military group cannot be independently confirmed.
The operation was carried out jointly by soldiers from the Monywa District Battalion 13 – Aung San Generation and the Monywa District Battalion 22 – Nat Soe Battalion.
Residents said that after the incident, the army of the junta council drove around Monywa and the industrial area in cars, opening fire wildly and making arrests.
On December 24, the local PDFs carried out two attacks on the junta council troops and the police who came out of Thazi Prison in Monywa Township, killing five junta triops and seizing three guns.
