SHAN STATE – Intensifying battles have been reported between the TNLA and junta forces in Muse and Kutkai Townships, with TNLA Brigade 1 and 5 involved until September 2nd.
Between July 23rd and September 2nd, 31 clashes occurred between TNLA and junta forces. On September 2nd, the junta forces’ operation headquarters – 17, junta light infantry battalion – 577, and junta infantry battalion 45 launched an offensive near Kho Mun Village in Kutkai Township. The clashes lasted for about one and a half hours.
Later, around 6 p.m., Division – 99 and IB – 420 attempted to launch an offensive at a TNLA camp, resulting in another battle near Lwal Kya Law.
This battle intensified into the night, with the junta forces from Nant Phat Kha – 123 and Lwal Kya Law continuously firing heavy artillery shells as reinforcements. During the battle, the junta side incurred many casualties, but the details could not be confirmed, according to TNLA.
Since the end of August, junta soldiers have attempted to launch an offensive in TNLA-controlled areas, and TNLA has responded with offensives against the junta camp in Muse 105-mile, said Vice Major Tar Ai Kyaw, an official of TNLA.
He also added that many clashes may occur if junta forces launch an offensive. Clashes between TNLA and junta forces have been ongoing since the last week of July, with the junta council employing airstrikes and heavy artillery shells. Civilians have also been killed due to reckless junta firings.
