MANDALAY DIVISION – People’s Defence Force (PDF) coalition has captured Nyaungto Village in Myingyan Township that was being used as a base by the junta backed Pyu Saw Htee militia, on December 30 at 5:30 a.m., reported a PDF team active in the region.
There are around 300 households in the village and the PDF forces have reportedly seized several weapons including drones and captured seven Pyu Saw Htee militants alive.
“We captured the Pyu (Saw Htee) village and captured five female and two male Pyu militants alive. We also confiscated items that were looted by the Pyu militia in various villages. There were also weapons confiscated but we can’t share the exact details yet as the battle just ended and we can’t go through the items yet as there are many defence forces. We only know that there was a junta drone and several weapons,” said a leader of a Myaung PDF team.
Local defence force leader informed that there were no casualties among the defence force soldiers in the battle for Nyaungto Village.
“The village was a Pyu (Saw Htee) base. But not every resident was a member of the militia. Some of the residents who are not part of the militia moved out of the village into the nearby forests. The strong supporters of the NLD (National League for Democracy) party had absconded the village together with their families since the military coup. We saw flames in the southern part of the village at around 7 a.m. (on December 30). We don’t know about the death toll or the details as we don’t dare enter the village yet,” said a local villager.
The details of junta and Pyu Saw Htee casualties in the battle are yet to be reported.
