KACHIN STATE – Locals said that Kachin Independence Army (KIA) troops attacked the police station in Palana Village, Sumprabum Road, Myitkyina on August 13, killing two military council policemen and injuring 4 others.
A resident said that at around 9:00 p.m., they arrived on a motorcycle from the west of the police station and opened fire. “I didn’t hear the sound for a long time. They shot with a small gun. 4 policemen were injured. And I heard that two died. This morning, there’s no one in front of the police station,” said the resident.
The death or injuries of policemen could not be confirmed independently. The police station is a checkpoint on the Myitkyina – Sumprabum Road, adjacent to residential areas. Residents said last year that there was a traffic problem and concern for the people because the time allowed to pass through the gate was limited.
That checkpoint was attacked once in August 2022 and once in April this year.
