KACHIN STATE – Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked the junta council troops stationed in a monastery near the junta council camp at the head of Dabatyang village, Waingmaw township, using drones, at around 4 p.m. on August 4. Following that, there were back and forth firefights.
A person close to the village mentioned that the villagers who have returned to their village from IDP (internally displaced people) camps are worried to be entrapped in the battles.
Ka Tsu village and Dabatyang village are located on Myitkyina-Bhamo road and separated by Dabak creek. The junta council troops are stationed on both sides of the creek. The junta council troops from Ka Tsu village also supported by opening fire when the military camp in Dabatyang village was attacked, said the locals.
The villagers from Dabatyang village had been forced to flee due to the Kachin conflict in 2011 and they recently have returned to the village.
On August 4, the junta council troops launched aerial bombardments onto Maliyang camp, their prior camp which was conquered by KIA, using fighter jets.
Due to the junta council’s offensive attack, the battles broke out between KIA joint forces and the fascist junta council troops near Nam Sang Yang village, Waingmaw Township, on Myitkyina-Bhamo road, since July 3. The battles are breaking out daily, until now.
