KACHIN STATE – A military source in the Kachin region said that the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) joint forces attacked and captured a military council camp on the Myitkyina-Putao road in Kachin State on September 20 morning.
At 7:00 a.m. on September 20, KIA brigade 1, battalion 10, Battalion 22 and Kachin People’s Defence Force (KPDF) attacked the base camp of the military council near Dayo River Bridge, on the Myitkyina-Putao road.
The attack lasted about 5 and a half hours and the military council camp was captured.
“Eleven bodies of junta soldiers were found, and the rest of the soldiers ran away. The KIA forces also confiscated heavy weapons, small weapons and ammunition from the camp,” said a Kachin military source.
He also informed that two members of the military council were captured alive in the battle to capture the camp.
On September 16, KIA attacked and seized a military council camp near Aungja Village in Momauk Township on the Myitkyina-Bhamo road.
The junta army, after suffering defeat in that battle, carried out air strikes several times, and on September 16 and 17, air bombardments were carried out almost 15 times.
