FRANCE – Italian British photographer Siegfried Modola has won the top Visa d’or Award for his photo taken in Karen State where there is resistance against the Myanmar junta regime.
The photo titled “Armed resistance in Myanmar” won Mr. Modola the award at the International Photojournalism Festival held in Southern France’s Perpignan. The photo was published in Canada’s Globe and Mail in 2022.
The photo on Myanmar armed resistance won against the photojournalism series on the NGOs conducting rescue of immigrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea and the photo taken on Bakhmout Town during the Ukrainian War.
This is the second year that a photo on the revolution in Myanmar won the top prize at the festival after the photo titled “Spring Revolution” by a Myanmar photographer who asked to be anonymous for security reasons won the Visa d’or News Award in 2021.
