TANINTHARYI DIVISION- The Tanintharyi People’s Defense Force announced that a military council infantry column was attacked by a mine between Tagangtaungpu village and Winetaung village.
On January 12 at about 1:00 p.m., a military column with a force of more than 100 marched towards Tagangtaungpu and Winetaung villages was attacked by Kyunsu PDF, Tawponegyi Local PDF, Pulaw PDF, and People’s Security Forces in Tanintharyi Division, cooperated in carrying out a mine attack.
“Since the junta troops started opening fire, we detonated a mine. They have been arbitrarily opening fire, even damaging houses in the villages,” said an official of Kyunsu PDF telling the media about the attack on the military council column.
Although there were casualties from the military council’s side in the mine attack, the investigation is still ongoing, he continued.
According to the military situation in Tanintharyi Township and Myeik Township, the resistance forces urged travelers should follow the warnings issued by the PDF groups.
On January 10th, the aforementioned joint revolutionary forces ambushed a junta column of about 70 soldiers leaving from Myeik to Tanintharyi on the road and attacked them with mines.
