RAKHINE STATE – On the night of December 26th, the Tree Brotherhood Alliance announced that the AA had completely captured the Myauk Oo District Police Station in Myauk Oo City, Rakhine State, where the Arakan Army AA and the Junta Council are fighting.
“Myauk Oo District Police Station” was completely captured at around 9:00 p.m., and offensive attacks are being carried out to capture “Khewae Byuhar Gone (Khawae Strategic Hill camp)” inside Paletwa.
The Arakan Army AA has been able to capture the police stations in Myauk Oo city after the last few days’ offensive attack. They have been able to completely capture Ngay Taung Pauk, Thatoma Taung Military Station at the entrance point of the city, and Myauk Oo District Police Station.
In Myauk Oo, the military council battalions are 377, 378, and 540th. All battalions carried out heavy artillery firing, and the junta council’s air force jets bombed the city and the fighting areas all day.
As a result of this shooting, on December 26th, the Ward Governor of Sincha Hsate was killed, and in the past few days, nine residents of Myauk Oo have been killed and at least 16 injured. In the current condition of Sincha Hsate Ward, almost all the houses have been destroyed, and the neighborhood residents have to hide in safe places, said a resident of Sincha Hsate Ward.”
All the neighborhoods are destroyed. Some houses collapsed, some houses were blown up, plants were broken, and people died. We are all hiding somewhere now. We don’t have much food—just salt and rice. I don’t know when this will deplete,” he said.
Because of these heavy weapons, some houses in Myauk Oo are on fire, and the junta local council has also arrested the residents. Tens of thousands of Myauk Oo residents have left the city due to the raids on their homes.
On the morning of December 25th, the military council’s 540th and 377th units fired heavy weapons, destroying the priceless ancient cultural relics and stone pillars inscribed with the history of Rakhine throughout the ages in Myauk Oo.
The Arakan Army has issued a statement saying that the Junta Council that destroyed the Myauk Oo Museum with heavy weapons will be avenged, and the National Unity Government (NUG) government said it will try to get international action.
In addition, nine local civilians from Aung Min Galar Ward and Bandhula Ward were taken as human shields by the junta council troops. Until today, they have not been released and have not had any contact with their family members.
