MON STATE – A clash broke out between Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) against junta council on January 6 at Ahlulay Village of Bilin Township, located on the Yangon – Mawlamyaine Highway.
During the battle, a junta army’s soldier was killed and two workers from a nearby rubber factory were injured in the head and arm due to the glancing by bullet, the residents said.
The clash started at about 9 a.m. and ended at around 10 a.m. on January 6. The Yangon – Mawlamyaine Highway was jammed for about 2 hours.
“I don’t know how long the fighting has been going on in front. I stopped my car as it was jammed and all others car were stopped. Just now, I can hear the gunshots continuously,” said a driver who was stuck in the jam during the fighting.
A battle broke out with revolutionary forces when the junta troops ambushed near Ahlulay Village, and the military council army was reportedly retreated.
Clashes usually occurred between junta thugs and revolutionary forces at the Yangon-Mawlamyine Road between Kyaikto to Thaton towns.
