SAGAING DIVISION – Bo Lin Yaung, the leader of the Khin U Support Organization (KSO) said that due to climate change and rainfall, there is a seasonal flu in Khin U Township and medical assistance is needed.
“Those fleeing the war from Khin U area are living in camps, their relative’s homes, and also in monasteries. So it is difficult to tell the number of cases, but currently, 2 out of 10 refugees have the flu”, he said.
“Right now, they have runny nose and cough, so the medical support is necessary. We provide health care for free of charge and we also provide health care after going to the war evacuation camps every 15 days,” said Bo Lin Yaung.
In addition to that, the children in the IDP camp also had diarrhoea and need vaccination, he said.
In Khin U Township, there are four villages that the terrorist army has invaded, and they have camped at Mudin Creek and Inpat Bay, which are the main of the route, and they often enter nearby villages to loot food. Hence, many locals stay in IDP camp for a long time and do not dare to return to the village.
It is also reported that the non-CDM health workers do not live in the villages but live in the city, so the residents are losing access to medical treatment.
In addition, only 1% of children under 2 years of age and pregnant women in Khin U Township have chance to get vaccinations, according to a local CDM health specialist.
