MON STATE – An official from the Deputy Commander’s office of the Southern Region, Military Sub-region No. 3 said that the KNLA-PDF joint forces attacked the Hnit Kayin Police Station by the sea in Ye Township, and the junta council fired back with a helicopter.
On June 25, at about 11:40 a.m. in Ye Township, KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) Battalion 27 and PDF (People’s Defence Force) joint forces raided the police station under the terrorist army in Hnit Kayin Village, and the firefight lasted for more than 2 hours.
“This police station is a temporary rest stop for the enemy column. We managed an ambush attack after receiving information. There could be high casualties on their side. When the joint forces were approaching the police station to attack from a close range, the terrorist army’s Mi 35P helicopter came to bomb the area, and also fired recklessly, so we retreated,” a field commander said.
This police station has been abandoned for a long time and the junta column only entered for temporary rest. The investigation is still ongoing to find out the exact number of casualties from the terrorist army. It is reported that the KNLA-PDF joint forces were able to withdraw without harm.
It is reported that KNLA Battalion 27 and the PDF joint column have taken control of the area along the Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei Road in Ye Township, Mawlamyein District, and are holding security checks on the road.
