KACHIN STATE – According to the Kachin news sources and locals, the battle continued on September 6 in area near Laiza, where the headquarters of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) is located.
Since early July, the military council troops have been attacking the Nam Sanyang area of Waingmaw Township, and the battle has been taking place in the region, including area along the Myitkyina – Bhamo road.
“There is a battle going on in the Madiyang and Dabatyang. The military council are launching offensive attacks,” a Kachin news source mentioned.
A Kachin resident also said, “Those who returned from that side said that they were fighting intensely yesterday (September 5). The battle is also intense now. The details of the situation are not yet known. Now people from Dabatyang are returning. It is also happening on that side.”
Locals said that the KIA and the Military Council had a fierce battle on September 5 at the Sama intersection in Waingmaw Township.
The KIA and the military council have also been fighting in Kutkai Township in northern Shan State for the past few days.
