YANGON DIVISION – A local reported that more than fifty youths who were skating and riding bikes under the Hledan Overpass were forced to lie flat on the ground and beaten by the junta troops on Sunday (May 21).
Around 7 a.m. on May 21, two junta trucks arrived under the Hledan Overpass where the youths were playing and the junta forces reportedly interrogated and beat up the youths, according to the witness.
“The junta troops arrived in two trucks. One of them shouted and asked the youths whether they were gathering for a protest. One of the youths mumbled “yes” as he was startled. The youth was hit with the butt of the riffle and the other youths were also ordered to lie flat on the ground and got beaten,” said the witness.
The junta troops reportedly announced that the skating area under the bridge is closed and no longer allowed for biking or skating (before they left).
This incident happened during the junta morning patrols and no youth was detained, stated the witness.
