SAGAING DIVISION- According to local defense forces, a military council officer was seriously injured when the junta soldiers patrolling in Wetlet were attacked at past 11:00 a.m. on May 24.
The junta group of more than ten soldiers patrolling with one car and two motorcycles was attacked with landmines by Tawgyi Viper group at the corner of Star road, Wetlet Township, according to an official from Battalion 2 of Shwe Bo District.
“The junta captain suffered an open wound in a calf muscle which was confirmed by eyewitnesses and informants though it is difficult to know the detailed condition,” he said.
The injured person is a 30-year-old captain, and he is currently being treated at a junta battalion in the city.
In addition, on May 23 at past 4:00 p.m., People’s Servant Revolution (Wetlet) group and local people’s defense teams opened fire and attacked with mines on a convoy of more than 70 soldiers on foot from Hlataw police station to Wetlet town, and two junta soldiers were injured, according to the intelligence officer of the battalion 2.
The defense forces said that the junta soldiers who were attacked were the ones who had arrived from Shwebo as reinforcements due to the attack on the Hlataw village police station. It is unknown which battalions they are from.
