KACHIN STATE – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked and captured two militia camps under the hunta Council in Waimaw Township in Kachin State on December 15, confirmed by Colonel Nawbu, in charge of the KIA Information Department.
“The captured militia camps were Talawgyi and Bosadi from Shwe Nyaungpin from Waimaw Township,” he said.
It was said that they were able to seize the camps around 8:00 a.m. after starting the attack in the early morning of December 15.
“We did not hear news from the ground about casualties,” said Colonel Nawbu. It is said that due to the fighting, the local residents had to flee their homes.
On the other hand, the junta council army responded by firing heavy weapons at areas where there was no fighting, Colonel Nawbu added.
“I don’t know for sure, but I think it may be related to the fighting. Around 11 o’clock this morning, a heavy weapon believed to be 105 mm was fired from ‘Yawyone’, a junta army base near Maijayan College. It hit a residential house. Two students who were sitting in that residential house were also injured. But after that, there was no serious danger,” said Colonel Nobu.
In addition, the terrorist army fired heavy weapons into Laiza and the surrounding area.
“Next Maisetpa, on the side of Nam Sanyang, was bombed by air,” said Colonel Naw Bu. He explained that an elderly man was injured by the air attack.
In the past, the KIA had attacked and captured military council camps, and the junta council had fired heavy weapons at the Laiza headquarters.
