TANINTHARYI DIVISION – A battle broke out on a section of the Dawei-Palaw Road in Thayetchaung Township and five junta soldiers were killed, said an official from Eagle Guerrilla Force.
At around 3:15 p.m. on September 22, Eagle Guerrilla Force prepared to ambush the junta column consisting of one military vehicle and 150 infantry soldiers heading from Yange Village, Thayetchaung towards Kyaukse Village near Natye between Padaukgyi Village and Lower Thayetchaung Village but were spotted by junta troops on board the car, leading to a confrontation.
The battle lasted around 30 minutes with the junta council losing five soldiers. Although Eagle Guerrilla Force was outnumbered, the group relied on continuous fire, preventing the advance of junta troops. Unable to advance, junta forces picked up their fallen troops onto the car while Eagle Guerrilla Force fell back due to insufficient ammunition.
“We learned that five junta dogs (soldiers) died. The dead bodies were seen loaded up on the military vehicle,” said an official from Eagle Guerrilla Force.
