SHAN STATE – The TNLA and its alliances captured the junta command headquarters – 16 in Hsenwi and Kutkai Strategic Hill on the Trading Road, Shan State, on Sunday (January 7), according to the statement released on Monday (January 8).
On January 7, around 10 a.m., TNLA comrades captured the junta camp – 16 backline headquarters. Subsequently, the comrades captured Kutkai Strategic Hill at 11 p.m.
Before capturing Kutkai Strategic Hill, the junta council carried out airstrikes as reinforcement for two consecutive days.
“Various fighter jets conducted airstrikes at Kutkai Downtown. We don’t know the extent of the impact or any casualties. We don’t dare to go and look,” said a Kutkai resident.
On January 7, the junta’s Y12 fighter jet deployed 59 bombs at Hokyant, Pan Ku, Pan Seng, Lwal Hsei, and Lwal Ong Villages, near Kutkai, destroying one monastery, one nun’s residence, and two civilians’ houses, as stated in the release.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance mentioned they would release a statement about the effects of capturing junta camps.
This marks the first time that one of the junta command headquarters has been captured. It is learnt that there are ten battalions under one command headquarter.
