SHAN STATE – It is said that local civilians are asking for a large gambling ring at Innkhaung Village in Heho Township, southern Shan State to be shut down.
It is said that the team of the Innkhaung Village administration officer is leading the gambling ring every night, proclaiming that he has connections from Kalaw Township police to the Shan State police.
“It has been over two years. Starting from the Township police chief, station chief, surveillance officer, military intelligence and junta forces are all bribed. They spend a million Kyats a night just hosting the (junta) night patrol team. Around three million Kyats are spent each night in bribes. The charges per night are in tens of millions while the amount of cash being gambled each night is in the ranges of tens of billions. The tax is not paid in cash but transferred via Kpay or Wave Pay. Other gambling rings at Aungban, Pindaya and Ywangan have to close when there are visits by junta officers but the gambling ring at Innkhaung would stop for a couple hours at max. Ms. Mi Nge is well connected even at the state level,” said a local news source.
The gambling ring in question is being held right beside the monastery in Innkhaung Village and is reportedly permitted by Heho Police Station Chief and surveillance officer.
The gambling ring is more active at night with gamblers coming in cars and it is said that billions are being gambled every night.
It was formed about a year after the military coup and is infamous as the gambling ring with no arrests and full security.
