SAGAING DIVISION-According to Indaw PDF, a skirmish took place between the military junta column which entered Indaw township from Banmauk Township and the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF).
An Indaw PDF official said that the 101st Infantry Battalion under the 77th Division and the junta militia Pyu Saw Htee joint forces entered the Indaw area with a large force on October 3.
“Military council troops came from Banmauk to Indaw. In the morning, they clashed with student troops from this side near Thaung Gyi Village. The military council has a lot of strength, almost 100, but half of them are Pyu. The ground situation of the battle is still unknown,” he said.
The battle took place for about an hour from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. The casualties of military junta troops was unknown, but there were injuries, according to a local man who lives near Thaung Gyi village.
“The junta soldiers and Pyu have now taken up positions in the village. It is said that there are some injured people on the junta side and they are taking a break. The villagers ran away when they heard the gunshot,” he said.
Currently, the military junta troops are still in Thaung Gyi Village, so the two sides are in a tense situation, and the local residents are reportedly fleeing into the forests.
Thaung Gyi Village is located on the Indaw-Banmauk road and is a village with around 100 houses.
Indaw is a township on the border between Sagaing division and Kachin state. It is a township that has been declared under martial law, and is the main military base for the military junta troops, PDF and ABSDF.
