SAGAING DIVISION – The clashes have intensified between junta forces and PDF comrades near Ywar Tha Yar Village, Indaw Township, resulting in two PDF comrades being wounded by junta airstrikes.
On Tuesday (May 23) at 6 a.m., fighting broke out between 200 junta troops from Division 77 – Infantry Battalion 416 coalition forces and PDF comrades. At around 11:30 a.m., two junta fighter jets from Myitkyina conducted airstrikes.
“The junta might have casualties because they used airstrikes and heavy artillery shells as reinforcement. Two jets circled for three minutes and dropped 14 or 15 bombs,” said a comrade from Indaw PDF.
Two PDF comrades were wounded due to junta airstrikes, and other damages could not be confirmed as the clashes have intensified.
Since Monday (May 22) at 7 a.m., the fighting has been ongoing, and the junta’s hill has also provided support by firing heavy artillery shells. Over 6,000 civilians from Aung Kone, Nant Tha, and In Pin Villages to the west of Indaw have been fleeing as the junta troops have been raiding the villages since March 20.
