RAKHINE STATE: Junta forces came into the village in the AA (Arakan Army) controlled region in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine state on the afternoon of May 26 without giving any alarm, which caused the military tension in the region, as said by the person who is close to AA.
A military lorry with about 20 soldiers was said to have come into Sin Inn Gyi village, Ponnagyun Township around 3 p.m. on May 26.
A person who is close to AA said, “Junta forces gave an excuse of taking security for the staff who came to repair the lamp posts and the communication towers. AA, on the other hand, surrounded them with full ammunition. When AA said the security of the staff had been guaranteed in the AA controlled region after checking them between Sin Inn Gyi village and Paday Thar village, junta forces went back to Sittwe around 4:30 p.m.”
As junta forces came into the region, the local people from Sin Inn Gyi village where there are about 150 houses and Paday Thar village with about 80 houses fled for their lives to safer places, as said by one of the local residents of Sin Inn Gyi village.
He said, “We do not have houses nor food because of Cyclone Mocha. During the tough time, if a battle breaks out in the region, we will have more troubles.”
On November 10, 2022, junta forces came into the Sin Inn Gyi village, torched the houses, 9 houses in the village were burned down and 9 innocent civilians shot dead.
Despite the fact that Junta forces and AA have ceased fire with the excuse of humanitarian support since November 26, 2022, junta forces have been continuously reinforcing the ammunition and manpower, as said by the local people.
