KACHIN STATE – After the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked and occupied a military council base in Aungja village, Momouk township, Myitkyina – Bhamo Road, the military council has been carrying out airstrikes, a Kachin military source said.
One of the three military camps near Aungja village was captured by the KIA on September 16 and was attacked by the junta council’s air force about 10 times.
“This morning (September 17), three fighter jets from the Myitkyina bombed the Aungja side three times, at 10:18 a.m., the second time at 10:21 a.m. another one at 10:46 a.m.,” said a military source in the Kachin region.
“The battle was fiercely fought at 8:00 a.m. and now quiet,” said the military source.
The KIA news agency informed that two members of the military council and a lot of ammunition were seized during the battle to capture the camp.
Colonel Naw Bu, in charge of the KIA’s information department, said on September 16 evening that the Military Council Army is reinforcing their troops to the area, and the troops came from Bhamo are reaching Laja Yang.
