MYANMAR – The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) published that a total of 3,509 innocent people had been killed due to brutal crackdown by junta forces and a total of 22,211 people had been detained in over two years of the bloody coup in Myanmar.
AAPP added that the data is listed from 1 February 2021 to 12 May 2023 and the actual numbers on the ground might be higher.
During the course of the Spring Revolution, as of 12 May 2023, 17,918 people are being unjustly detained and 5,893 of them had been sentenced to prison.
112 people related to the revolution were sentenced to death and have been detained in prison. 121 people were sentenced in absentia and 42 of them were sentenced to death in absentia, bringing the total of people sentenced to death to 152.
Until recently, it is said that 4,293 people have been released after being abducted.
Those who have information about the leaders of civil society organizations, civilians, activists, journalists and CDM staffs from various sectors being abducted or detained or charged, and, those who have been murdered during the Spring Revolution, can contact and inform AAPP.
In addition, it is announced that the fatality data and the abduction data can be sent directly to [email protected] and [email protected] respectively.
