MYANMAR – Institute for Strategy and Policy- Myanmar ( ISP MYANMAR ) announced on May 19 that nearly 700 people were killed due to more than 440 airstrikes targeting civilians by military council within 4 months from January to April, 2023.
According to ISP MYANMAR’s surveys, the military council carried out 442 airstrikes on at least 56 townships across the country within 4 months, killing 693 civilians.
Villages where civilians live, schools and hospitals are being targeted by aerial bombardments and the military council is attacking the IDP ( Internally displaced people ) camps and villages even no battles on the ground.
Among the military council’s air strikes, the aerial bombardments attack took place in Pazigyi village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Division on April 11 was the most serious, and a total of nearly 170 people, including many children, were killed.
The local defense forces said that the military council carried out continuous aerial strikes on Pinlaung – Pekon region in Southern Shan State, the east side of Demoso in Karenni State, Sagaing Division and Karen State where the current military council is fighting fiercely.
According to ISP MYANMAR’s statement, more than 2.5 million people have fled due to the junta army killings and airstrikes, and most of them are taking refuge in IDP (Internally displaced people) camps.
