MAGWAY DIVISION- In Pakkoku Township, seven policemen patrolling on foot were killed when resistance forces attacked them near the Pantaichone village.
At around 3:00 p.m. on May 2, seven policemen from Pantaichone (Pan-Taing-Chone) Checkpoint were on foot patrol along the road when they were attacked.
“We waited and opened fire when receiving news that junta policemen were coming out of Pantaichone Gate. They all died. They didn’t even get time to shoot us back,” said a member of a local defense force based in Yesagyo.
“A total of 7 police forces, including an officer, were killed during the shooting and seven guns were also seized,” he said.
After the attack, more than 100 members of the military council arrived at the area, searching and reportedly torching the village of Pantaichone, said one of the Yesagyo-based PDF force members.
Currently, 30 houses are on fire and residents are fleeing due to the military’s torching of the village, according to reports.
