SAGAING DIVISION- Those who went to help the struggling displaced persons in a riverbank of Yinmapin town reported that IDPs danced in happiness as the donors came.
According to the Yu&Tulip Foundation, about 500 people fleeing the war since mid-December 2023 as the military council burned their homes, could not return home yet.
The Yu&Tulip Foundation team provided fruits, vegetables, and snacks to those IDPs on May 1 on behalf of donors.
“We took a car full of fruits and vegetables. We also had snacks and drinks. We donated snacks not only to children but also to adults,” said the woman in charge of field support for the Yu&Tulip Foundation.
She continued to say that vegetables are also donated to people who have fled the war.
Displaced people are currently living in temporary tents on the hot riverbanks, and on May 1 at noon, five tents were reportedly damaged due to a strong wind.
“The strong wind and rain made some of the tents collapse. Because it’s a sandy beach, they have to live under the heat of the sun and the sand. They need food and medicine,” said the woman in charge of Yu&Tulip Foundation support.
In the refugee camp, there are many elderly people and children. They have been making betel baskets, fishing, doing random jobs, and living off the donations.
Donors could contact (the Yu&Tulip Foundation) to supply their requirements such as rice, oil, groceries, and some drugs such as Oral Rehydrating Salt (ORS) packs and painkillers.
