BAGO DIVISION – A person close to the Myanmar Railways said that one freight train derailed after the Kanyuk Kwin-Nyang Pintha railway section was mined.
On May 1st, at around 5:15 in the morning, the Kanyuk Kwin-Nyang Pintha railway section was mined and a cargo train derailed. Due to the derailment of the cargo train, the No. 11 Up express train had to turn back from Kyauktan, and the No. 12 Up express train also turned back from Myit Tha, and the train trip was canceled.
To retrieve the derailed train, a T-60 crane from Malywa Kone factory left Yangon station at around 7:00 a.m. on May 1.
“The 901 UP cargo train derailed today at 5:15 a.m. at the mining area between Kanyuk Kwin-Nyang Pintha and 4 cars were derailed, including the locomotive. Because of that incident, the No. 11 Up express train had to be turned back from Kyauk Tan. In addition, the No. 12 Up express train also turned back from Myit Tha and had to cancel the train trip. Maybe it’s driving over a mined railroad. If it hits a mine, the locomotive can also be damaged,” a person close to the Myanmar Railways said.
In addition, the Non-CDM employee, Mr. Win Ko of the Malywa Kone Railway Factory, has been prosecuted under Article 505 by the Nay Pyi Taw headquarters and an arrest warrant has been issued, and the employee is absconding.
“The head office of Nay Pyi Taw has issued an arrest warrant against Non-CDM staff Mr. Win Ko, locomotive controller (3) of the Malywa Kone factory, under section 505. It is known that it is under the communication section. He is on the run. The exact incident is not cleared,” continued a source close to Myanmar Railways.
