SHAN STATE – It was reported that Maila Armed Forces (NDAA) of Special Region 4 government distributed food to the Kokang war evacuees temporarily living in Silu District, Special Region 4.
Food was distributed to 1,500 war refugees who arrived in Silu area under the NDAA between December 14 and 17. It is said that rice, oil and salt were distributed.
It is reported that under the care of the local government, the People’s Welfare Association, Silu District Administrative Office, Silu Police, Mother and Child Welfare Association and the Kokang Ethnic Relations Association went and distributed food to the Kokang war refugees who came to live temporarily in Silu District.
It was said that considering the hardships of the people fleeing the war, the local government has released money to buy food. The Kokang Ethnic Relations Association also encouraged that the people who fled the war must stay strong in spirit and that the local government will overcome the difficult times together with the people who fled the war.
Since October 27, members of the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC), which is made up of seven armed groups, including NDAA, such as Kokang, Ta’ang and the Rakhine forces have been conducting Operation 1027 against the military council. Fighting has been intense in all parts of northern Shan State and there have been many refugees. And the members of FPNCC, Wa (UWSA) and Maila (NDAA) provided assistance with food, temporary shelters and transportation for the war refugees.
