RAKHINE STATE – The commodity prices jumped to exorbitant levels in Buthidaung Town after the junta council blocked off all land and water routes, reported the residents.
It is said that the price of one viss of onion reached 50,000 Kyats; one viss of garlic 60,000 Kyats; one litre of cooking oil 18,000 Kyats; one viss of chili 100,000 Kyats; and one litre of petrol 27,000 Kyats.
“The land and water routes have been completely closed off. It’s been about a month and a half and it is Impossible to buy anything. We don’t know how much longer the routes will remain blocked. The rich and poor are facing the same difficulties,” said a resident.
In Buthidaung Township during the battles between the Arakan Army (AA) and the terrorist junta council, the junta council targeted the civilians with airstrikes and artillery attacks and the terrorist junta troops further oppressed the civilians, reported the residents.
