KAREN STATE – The junta council carried out two airstrikes on a single day, June 27, in Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 5 controlled territory, Mutraw (Hpapun) District, and Brigade 6 controlled territory Dupalaya District.
According to local residents, at 11:40 a.m., a Mi35 military helicopter came and attacked near Kanin Kamaw Village, Winre Township, Dupalaya District, after a junta jet fighter came to shoot at the new generation school in Debuno Village in Mutraw District, at 7:30 a.m. on June 27.
As a result of the air attacks, the buildings of Debuno New Generation School in Mutraw District were damaged and the damage caused by the attack near Kanin Kamaw Village in Winre Township is still being investigated.
In addition, in recent days, the military council has been conducting airstrikes in the bordering area of Winre Township and Mon State’s Ye Township almost every day. On June 25, the junta council’s air attack and artillery attack by junta artillery battalion 307 on Hnit Kayin Village in the bordering area of Winre Township and Ye Township injured at least nine civilians.
The school buildings in Debuno Village, Lutho Township, KNU Mutraw District, were attacked for the first time on March 27 of 2021, the second time on March 27, 2022, and attacked for the third time now on June 27, 2023.
