TANINTHARYI DIVISION – It is said that three cars belonging to Total Energies and a France based management firm, partners to the junta council owned Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), were seized in Kanpauk.
The three cars, one belonging to Total Energies and two belonging to the management firm, were seized near D2 zone at around 9 a.m. on April 28, according to the employees from those companies. D2 zone, a term used by the companies, refers to the area comprising Migyaunghlaung Village on the Ye-Dawei Road and the entrance road to Nateain Mountain.
The France management firm was contracted by PTTEP for maintenance of oil and natural gas reserves including the security service at Zawtika Oil and Natural Gas Project.
“The cars were seized in the morning on their way to work. The people who seized the cars spoke in Mon accents,” said an employee of Total Energies. It is said that the companies had filed a case at Kaleinaung Police Station regarding the cars.
A Yebyu Township based revolutionary force is reported to have seized those cars but it is not yet clear which group was behind it.
A revolutionary soldier active in Yebyu Township commented that hurting the income supply of MOGE is something that needs to be done but suggested that the group that seized the cars should issue a statement to prevent misunderstandings.
Several vehicles belonging to PTTEP’s Zawtika Project were similarly seized on the Ye-Dawei Road last rainy season.
