MYANMAR – The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM) under the National Unity Government (NUG) has issued a notification for the people to be careful because they may experience changes in temperature in the coming week.
It was stated that there might have been temperature changes in Kachin, Karen, Karenni, Mon, Rakhine states and Magway, Mandalay, Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Bago divisions, starting from 30 April 2024.
In addition to this, global warming, extreme weather events and extreme heat waves are occurring in all parts of the world, and research studies have found that the world has warmed by about one degree Celsius since the beginning of the 21st century, according to the ministry’s statement.
In 2024, most Southeast Asian countries and most Asian countries will experience the effects of extreme temperature significantly, and some Asian countries have experienced heavy rains and floods, not its seasons.
The extreme high temperature can cause in addition to health problems, such as skin burns, excessive sweating, cramps, fatigue, dizziness, vomiting, overheating, unconsciousness, and death in severe cases.
Moreover, most of the cities and towns in central Myanmar are among the hottest list in the world, and deaths due to overheating are occurring in most cities.
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM) has issued a press release that the temperatures in Myanmar may drop slightly in the coming week, but it is especially needed to be aware of the adverse effects that may occur due to the extreme high temperature.
