BAGO DIVISION – According to an accountable person of Bago township People’s Defense Organization (PDO), Mr. Thant Zin Win, a political prisoner, who was being abducted by the junta council and detained in Kyaiksakaw prison was murdered while being taken for interrogation.
Mr. Thant Zin Win was a recruiting and training officer of Bago PDO. Mr. Thant Zin Win along with the other comrades were abducted by the junta council on December 14, 2021.
The junta council unjustly sentenced Mr. Thant Zin Win to over 80 years in prison under section 54, 505, 51 and 52. He along with the other three political prisoners were taken away for interrogation on May 26 while he was facing the unfinished cases.
It was known that his family members have heard the news from reliable sources that he was murdered after he was being taken away. Even though his family members had gone to inquire to the prison authorities, the authorities refused to give a definite answer as to whether he was being murdered or not.
The accountable person of Bago PDO mentioned that “we don’t know the reason why he was taken away. What we have learnt is that he was sent to interrogation. He was still facing the unfinished cases.”
The accountable person added that along with Mr. Thant Zin Win, other three political prisoners were taken away. Until May 27, the news of the other political prisoners had not been heard yet. Similarly, the junta council stooges also took some prisoners away on May 28.
During these days, the junta council has taken the prisoners away from the prison for interrogation. The junta council troops have taken 11 prisoners away from Myingyan prison and tortured them, during May 21 and 24. There are rumours, 1 out of 11 prisoners was murdered during the torture.
