RAKHINE – Junta council soldiers fired heavy artillery shells at Minbya and Kyauktaw Townships on Wednesday (January 10), killing two civilians and injuring one, according to residents.
The fascist junta soldiers from battalion – 539 fired heavy artillery shells at Apout Wa Village around 4 a.m., according to a resident.
“The junta artillery battalion from the base of Kan Zaut Hill fired artillery shells and killed two. One of them was killed on the spot, and another one died while being transferred to a nearby clinic. The junta council fired without a battle,” said a resident.
The victims are Mr. A Tun Chay, in his 70s, and Mr. Da Maut, in his 50s, and the wounded civilian was taken to a nearby clinic.
On Tuesday (January 9) at midnight, the junta council started firing heavy artillery shells at Minbya Town, wounding one civilian.
“The junta council soldiers fired heavy artillery shells since last night, and one civilian from Pyi Taw was wounded. Despite him asking for help, we couldn’t reach him,” said a resident.
The junta council troops also murdered three civilians in Mrauk U on January 9, and another one was killed by junta artillery shells.
The junta battalions from Rakhine and Paletwa Townships have been firing heavy artillery shells, leading to an increase in the number of casualties among civilians and children.
