SAGAING DIVISION – Two members of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and a school teacher partaking in CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) were detained by junta council troops in Sagaing on July 2 and 3, reported Amara Warriors Force.
Comrade Titant Wai (aka) Ye Khaung, a member of Amara Warriors Force, was detained on July 2 and another member comrade Thu Wai Khant (aka) Karen Gyi was abducted along with CDM teacher Ms. Seint Seint Thu from Kyauktan Village in Myingyan Township.
“Comrade Titant Wai was detained first. It is assumed that he was made to contact his girlfriend, the CDM teacher, after his arrest. The girlfriend and another comrade went to Sagaing and were detained,” explained Bo. Moe Wai, the officer in charge of Amara Warriors Force.
It is said that Comrade Titant Wai, a former company commander of Amara Warriors Force, was demoted, stripped of his weapons and was being detained at the force for committing a wrongdoing when he escaped to Sagaing.
Bo. Moe Wai said that Comrade Titant Wai took advantage of the situation when other comrades were busy defending against the junta offensives to break free from his detention and escaped to Sagaing where he was arrested by junta forces.
Junta loyalist telegram channels posted that two PDF members and a CDM teacher were arrested at Kantalu Checkpoint in Sagaing on July 3.
Three members of Talaing Village People’s Defence Team and a PDF member had also fell in battle during the fighting at Talaing Village in Sagaing Township on early July 2 morning.
