TANINTHARYI DIVISION – It has been reported that three houses were torched by the fascist junta council troops and a few religious buildings were damaged by the junta council firing heavy weapons, in Tanintharyi division, in February.
According to the information, the atrocious junta council troops set three houses on fire in Thingantone village after conducting offensive attacks towards the village. Due to the junta council firing heavy weapons, a religious building in Taungthonelone village was damaged, in Dawei township territory.
Moreover, at least one civilian building was damaged due to the junta council’s airstrikes in Shwechaung village, Dawei township.
A 40-year-old woman who lived in Wakone village mentioned that “even though our houses are not burnt down yet, we cannot stay calm. As summer is coming soon, we have to worry about the ordinary fire and also junta’s arson.”
In addition to the damages by fire, the junta council troops despoiled the civilian properties from the houses in Bon Maw ward, in Saw Mi Nyo road, in Dawei town and Leikkyeipyaung village and Thingantone village.
Among the arson incidents, the revolutionary forces also set two junta council military camps on fire. Those military camps are Myitta town police station in Dawei township and the junta council’s military camp in Heindar village.
In February, the civilian houses were damaged due to the armed conflicts and due to the fire which accidentally broke out. The fire, which started from Karuna philanthropic organisation, burnt the whole organisation’s building and seven houses from nearby down to ashes.
Within two months of 2024, the fascist junta council troops torched more than 100 houses and most of the houses were from Launglon township.
