MYANMAR – The role of the military is to protect the people and protect the country, and the Myanmar military continues to fail to fulfill this responsibility, the Canadian Embassy in Myanmar issued a statement.
On Fascist Revolution Day (March 27), the Canadian Embassy in Yangon issued a statement calling again on the military to stop its brutal acts of violence.
“Canada strongly condemns the atrocities and human rights violations that are still being committed by the Myanmar military,” said the statement.
It expresses condemnation of which are serious violations of international law such as intentional targeting of civilians and civilian properties, including aerial attacks on religious buildings, residential buildings, schools, health centers, sexual violence against women. The Canadian Embassy also stated that the refusal of the junta council to allow vulnerable people, including the Rohingyas, to move to safe places is completely unacceptable.
In addition, Canada urged all countries to immediately stop providing jet fuel and technical support, weapons, military equipment, military-civilian tools to help junta regime.
The Embassy reiterated that Canada is one with the vision of the Burmese people and their peaceful and democratic way of an all inclusive future.
