RAKHINE STATE – The Arakan Army (AA) announced that AA has attacked and captured a military council battalion based in Buthidaung, Rakhine State on March 26th.
AA began its offensive on February 24th on the LIB 552 battalion Under Buthidaung – based Military Operations Command (15), and was captured 32 days later. The AA was able to capture the camp in spite of the air support and resistance attacks by junta. AA announced that some of the weapons and the enemy’s bodies along with enemy soldiers who surrendered were captured.
In addition, AA also informs that the enemy troops at large are being hunted down and captured. AA still needs to attack and occupy some military council camps in order to completely capture Buthidaung.
In addition, the AA stated that they are accelerating their offensive to capture the Kyeinchaung border guard station in Maungdaw township.
The military council forces, consisting of about 100 soldiers from the Tamantha Police Outpost in Maungdaw, surrendered on March 25th due to the offensive of the AA. AA informed that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition had been seized.
It was said that those who surrendered were well taken care of. At present, the number of surrendered (military + military families) from Rakhine and Palatwa regions of Chin State is already more than thousands, AA announced.
At present, Paletwa from Chin state, Pauktaw, Minbya, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Myaybon, Ponnagyun, Ramree and Yathaetaung cities from Rakhine state were attacked and occupied by Arakan Army.
