MANDALAY DIVISION – The Independence Supporter group from Shwebo Township reportedly sent food and dry rations for the IDPs in Singu last Friday (June 9).
“The donation was made at around 2 p.m. on June 9. The displaced people have no home to return to. They have been living in temporary shelters in the forests and struggling for living. Some only have a pair of clothing as their own. They seem delighted to receive dry rations as if not having a home to return to is not their concern. I feel sorry for them,” stated Mr. KJ, spokesperson of the Independent Supporter Group.
The volunteers went there by cars and boats and reportedly offered 1 pyi basket of rice, 0.5 viss of peanut oil, and 1 viss of onion for each household. Assistance was provided to 200 households, as stated by the support group.
The IDPs are from Kyattuyway Village, Myitkangyi Village, and Hinthama Villages of Singu Township, who were displaced due to the junta offensives and aerial strikes on May 24. About 600 households were reportedly displaced due to the junta attacks.
The Independent Supporter Group of Shwebo Township was founded in January 2022 with ten main supporters. The group is not funded by any organization but is an independent volunteer group that has been supporting the detainees, offering house rental fees for activists whose houses were sealed off by junta troops and the revolutionists and People’s Defence Forces, as much as they could.
