KACHIN STATE – The junta police outpost at residential ward No. 4, Sai Taung Village, Hpakant Township, was burnt down, on Friday (May 12) at around 9 a.m.
“At around 9 a.m., we heard explosions from the police outpost and it was burnt down,” said a resident.
The junta police from that outpost are said to have transferred out the previous night on Thursday (May 11) at around 6 p.m. and they reportedly locked the outpost.
“There was no battle and it is unlikely that our comrades attacked (the outpost). They (junta forces) already left the outpost. They might have planted timed explosives and detonate (the outpost),” said a source close to KIA and PDF.
There are rumours that the junta council detonated the outpost with mines and also that KIA – PDF attacked it.
An official from Sai Taung PDF said that they didn’t attack nor set fire to that outpost. Sai Taung Police Outpost had around 30 junta police before the coup. It previously caught on fire when KIA – PDF attacked it in 2022.
