TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The locals said that a column of more than 100 military council troops entered and attacked East Village in Dawei Township with heavy weapons.
The locals said that a convoy of 6 military council vehicles from the Dawei side entered the Pakari police station and walked along the Dawei-HteeKhe road on foot, entering and firing with heavy weapons since 5:00 a.m., on June 15.
“I heard heavy gunfire. There were about 20 shots, now the gunfire is quiet,” said a local man at around 9:30 a.m.
It’s been reported that the column is currently in the Monastery of Pakhab village on the Dawei-HteeKhe Road.
A local defense comrade also said, “They came down in a car, and then the cars went back in. So it’s possible that they entered the area in a way that cleared the area.”
As the column entered, residents from Wet Thay, Pakhab, Ramazu, Thayat Ngot, Late Kyal Paung, Thingyan Tone, and Wa Gone villages along the road are afraid and fleeing.
