TANINTHARYI DIVISION – An official from the Dawei Collective Column said that they waited and attacked a junta council column that was returning from the border area of Htee Khee with four mines.
On Tuesday (May 9) at around 8:00 a.m., soldiers from the Dawei Collective Column, after receiving information in advance that the military council soldiers would come along a forest road near Anyar-phyar Village in the East Forest area of Dawei region, planted four landmines to attack. Two landmines exploded at the junta column which may cause many casualties, but the details are yet to be determined, a person in charge of the collective column said.
“The mine used was a large one. It is known that there were junta soldiers that lost their limbs, injured in the head or died in the explosion,” said the official.
A resident of Dawei said, “The strength of junta council force is about 100. They have returned from the Thai border. I heard that they captured six civilians.”
On April 23, a small junta council stationed near Mae Chaung Village in Dawe District was raided by the Dawe District PDF Battalion 1 and the Dawe Collective Column.
Dawei Collective Column is made up of Eastern Defense Force-EDF, Dawei Defense Team-DDT and Dawei Southern People’s Defense Team (DSPDF).
